Education 2.0 Theme Now Available

We are happy to announce the release of the Education 2.0 child theme. This WordPress theme works on the Genesis Framework and can be downloaded by Pro Plus members in the support forum. All others can purchase the package here.

For those who already have the Education 1.0 theme, the updated version will be sent out to the email address you used to purchase.

The Education theme is the 11th theme released here which has been developed to be mobile responsive in design. View all responsive WordPress themes.

Updating to Education v2.0

This version underwent a major design change and code update which means there’s not an easy update path. If you’re happy with your site built on a previous version of the theme, there’s no need to update.

  1. Nice clean lines and good colours.

Like the way the “Theme Colours” apply to the home page on the demo site and not just a sample page or post.

    Keep em coming boys.

  2. BIG WIN!

  3. Very nice!! Thanks guys!! :)

  4. Hey Brian, I love the new theme, you make awesome themes, and I wouldn’t expect anything less than that from you. I have a request, is there any way you can write a tutorial on responsiveness and the genesis framework, especially with the 1140 framework (I know you did a theme with it.) I haven’t really learned responsive design yet, (though I can understand media queries and can work with existing responsive sites). I think that kind of tutorial would be very useful.

    Thanks
    Zach

  5. Very nice theme, Brian. Love the selection of colors.

Keep up the good work, guys.

  6. Really Awesome these and i am in wait of an awesome all in one theme :)

  7. Really pretty theme!

Great colours and background textures and interesting layout. More like this please!

  8. One for your education series Brian.
This would make a great business theme, but most of my clients don’t want blogs.

How would you remove the loop from the home page?

    • Thanks for mentioning this, Keith. This is a beautiful new design and I’m also really hoping for a tutorial on how to remove the loop from the home page so I can use it for small business sites too!

  9. Evolution is showing… nice! Greater diversity between themes is good. Compliments for the designer…

  10. I like it a lot.

I hope all the psd images are in the file so that you can easily customize the “newsletter signup” area to any color you like.

  11. Absolutely LOVE it.
Stepping out and away from other StudioPress theme designs!
I like the homepage sidebar integration, and the look of the menu.
    Hats off to the designer!!

  12. I like: the slider and the neat look with the thin white frame around it. I like the four columns area bellow the slider. I don’t like the large white spaces all over the place and I don’t like the right sidebar that looks a little bit “old”. I was expected more colors from a theme aimed to students and young people.

    • Thanks for the feedback!
As you know, all of our child themes can be customized to any extent you desire – so users will be able to take this as a base starting point and make it uniquely their own, as with all of our themes.

  13. Whao!!! Long overdue. Looking forward to Outreach redesign too.
    Thumbs Up.

  14. This isn’t quite the right theme for the content and sites I work with, but I really like where this is headed. Nice type, whitespace, and heck…design.

Looking forward to what comes next!

    Jim

  15. Hi Brian,

    Awesome theme, I like it!

    Greetz, Coen

  16. And now for something completely different: StudioPress Education Theme. Very nicely done. I am looking forward exploring the theme. Keep up the great work! – Wil

  17. Guy, THIS is GREAT. Keep moving with redesigns and themes like this and you will make folsk VERY HAPPY. HOOK’EM.

  18. Wow, this is very nice and a completely different theme altogether. Definitely an upgrade from the original theme.

    Great job!

  19. Wow! awesome… I love it. I will download it right now. Exactly what I need. Keep up the good job!

  20. Just what I have been waiting for . Can’t wait for Expose v2 !!

  21. If we already own version 1.0, when should we expect the link to download the upgrade?

  22. Looks great, thank you for updating this theme.

  23. Hi Brian,
    Great job always, done.
I recently started using the version 1.0 though for my blogging site rather than education.
I don’t intend to upgrade to version 2.0 which is more institutional, however, I’m still learning to change some things in the way Framework (WordPress in general) works.
Would you mind to tell me how to create the recent news pages (with thumbnail pics) as featured in the original Education theme?
    Thanks in advance…

  24. The redesign looks great! Nice work with this one, guys!

  25. I really want to buy the pro plus package but it’s not cheap:)
    Are there any reductions coming?

    • We do not offer discount codes for initial purchases (although we have an ongoing 25% repeat customer discount – the code can be accessed in the support forum.)
Our theme licensing structure permits themes to be reused on as many sites as you wish, including client sites – as such, in order to keep our pricing low, we have chosen not to offer discounts.

You can read more about our discount code policy here: http://www.studiopress.com/discount-coupon-code

  26. Awesome theme, I liked it!

  27. Like the way the “Theme Colours” apply to the home page on the demo site and not just a sample page or post.

  28. I just made my first site with Genesis/Education 2 (I made my other sites with Thesis). I really like how my site looks on different devices, good job! I’m just wondering: on my site (http://casinoandroid.eu/) I use the primary menu, and it shows up in the blue area underneath the header, while in the example (http://demo.studiopress.com/education/) the menu shows up in the header. How can I get the meny like that? Is there somewhere a manual about how to tweak this child theme?

  29. Now that I’ve had a chance to play with it I think my favourite thing about this child theme (and there is plenty of things to like) is the departure from the 960 standard. It looks great on my large monitor.

  30. The homepage is excellent, I love what you did with the call to action!

  31. Excellent update of this theme. This is a complete change and could have even been given a different name as it is so different from its predecessor.

  32. Happy to see these mobile responsive updates, Education looks great in its new form!

  33. Love the new Education Theme and the dynamics of the page. I am struggling with a couple of details however and would appreciate your assistance.
    1) Despite I have the text field turned off in the header, the default theme name is showing up over the header image. What’s interesting, is I the changed the title before and never left it at Education. Is there something I’m missing or is this an error in the code.
    2) I would love to have the tabs menu shown in your demo. I have the main menu showing up beneath the banner and would prefer it to look like your demo. I have turned up the widgets in “header right margin” sidebar, but there appears to be no difference. Is there a plugin I need to add?

Thanks for your help; looking forward to your reply as I really love this theme and I know my client will, too. Here’s to your success!

  34. Excellent theme, so clean and professional yet again. I sincerely do love everything that you guys bring to the table.

  35. Awesome! I love it. Especially how you can use the 2nd sidebar. I have a few useful applications for this theme in mind. I already wanted to do something with the old education theme but it didn’t quite fit what i needed. This new one on the other hand does it way better. Thank you for providing such a wonderful theme just in time.

  37. This theme is GORGEOUS. I missed it when it was first released but am so glad to have found it when looking for a responsive theme. I really dig the way the secondary sidebar is displayed, and the widgeted area under the slider. Excellent job and I’m looking forward to using it.
