I am very happy to announce the release of the Georgia child theme for the Genesis Framework. Georgia will be one of many free child themes that we plan to make available for download.
Georgia is a “blog” theme, which includes features such as 6 page layouts, custom background, custom header, custom menus, footer widgets, threaded comments. (click to see demo)

A great, straight forward theme. I have a question, though, about these free themes. Since they are free, do you require that the credit in the footer stay? I know we have to buy Genesis to use it, but since the child theme is free, I wasn’t sure. Digging the plans you’ve got moving forward.
Jacob – the credit link in the footer, whether it be a paid child theme or free child theme, can always be removed or modified.
Very cool. I just turn it into an affiliate link, but I know that when people are developing for clients, they like to remove it. Thanks again, Brian.
The column classes samples look great and really useful! Have I missed those in the other child themes?
No – it’s something we’ve recently added to newer child themes. It’s really simple to include this – since it’s just css and some html. Here’s a tutorials on How to Use Content Columns for your reference.
Awesome! Thank you. BTW, I LOVE StudioPress! You make me look good to my clients.
Love this new child theme, I was just talking about tab effects on navigation with a colleague earlier in the week! Thank you for producing such wonderful themes.
You’re welcome Karen – happy to provide simple, but nicely design child themes for free to our users!
Very nice theme! For Free Even! I’ve been surprised to not see more free Genesis child themes around. I’ve been thinking of creating a page to list all the free Genesis Child Themes and am currently working on one of my own I’d like to offer for free. It seems to be a really good idea for Studiopress to create and promote free Genesis themes, because of course it’s going to require Genesis.
Thanks for the free theme! Look forward to using it.
Awesome. Sweet, simple, and elegant. Thanks for the free Genesis child theme!
I love the theme it looks great
I have been looking for something simple to put the focus on my content, so first of all, thank you! Second – I need to make it wider to accomodate a 300×250 ad at the top of the sidebar. Can I make everything wider, or would I need to make the post area narrower?
Disregard, I increased the sidebar to 320 and decreased the post area to 550 and it looks perfect!
Great – glad to hear it!
Looks good. It’ll get the job done for a lot of people. I like the idea of free Genesis child themes. Something for everyone.
Thank you for sharing this theme to all of us. I am actually using this now and it made my website look even more professional. Thank you!
Another question please – I want to put a small logo next to the title. Firebug tells me that the title is here:
.header-full-width #title-area,
So do I upload an image to my images folder and then just put the call before that line? Or do I need to turn the title and tagline into an image, put in the logo, then upload the whole thing in Appearance->Header?
I love this clean style. Lets us be creative.
Very cool i am so happy by this gift from Genesis.powerful and fast themes
i love studiopress
thats why i switch thesis to genesis theme
I love this theme, its clean and simple. I can’t seem to find the xml import file to setup the theme like the demo site. Can you provide a link for me and thanks…
The XML being used is the same one we supply in the sample child theme.
Thanks for the Georgia and Nomadic free child theme.
Are those free themes will have the support like other premium child themes? I mean, updates and feature additions.
Why there isn’t file “adsense.php” in Georgia and Nomadic free child theme?
Georgia and Nomadic very beautiful, maybe you could add some color styles choices for the future.
Adding color is very easy just go to theme editor style.css and replace all #34a7e0 with your desire color
