We are happy to announce the release of the Magazine 2.1 child theme. This WordPress theme works on the Genesis Framework and can be downloaded by Pro Plus members in the support forum. Others can purchase the package here.
The Magazine theme is the 12th theme released here which has been developed to be mobile responsive in design. View all responsive WordPress themes.
Updating to Magazine v2.1
This version has a few minor changes, which include the addition of a Landing Page template, and was updated for mobile responsive design. We also replaced the Genesis Slider with the Genesis Responsive Slider for the featured section on the homepage.
If you are currently running the Magazine 2.0 theme, you can find instructions on how to manually update your theme.

Theme Features
The Magazine child theme includes the following features: 7 color styles (blue, green, lavender, orange, pink, red and teal), 6 layout options, custom background, custom header, featured images, fixed width, mobile responsive design, theme options, threaded comments.

This is a great update. Thank you. More responsive themes please! And one suggestion: being able to pick a theme by whether or not the homepage is fully widgetized would be an awesome feature for the Theme Chooser. Blog style doesn’t work for a lot of organizations/groups who want more control.
Good work Brian. Any idea when there will be an (mobile responsive) update for the Enterprise theme?
Best regards, Rogier
Sorry for the delay in response, your comment was marked as spam. Not quite sure yet about Enterprise, but we’re hoping to move through our list of themes.
Perfect! Just what I have been waiting for. Great job, Brian. Thanks!
Thanks, and hopefully this is the beginning of a number of theme updates for responsive design.
Hi Brian,
that would be great. I’m especially waiting for these…
Lifestyle
Backcountry
News
Midnight
Thanks for all the free updates by the way
!
Lifestyle and News (not sure what order) will probably be the next two themes to receive updates.
Wow, another theme goes for Responsive
Nice update Brian
Loving these mobile responsive updates, you guys are definitely leading the way in web standards!
Love the responsive look. Great update.
Question — Is 1024 really a mobile resolution these days? I didn’t expect to see it in there.
Not so much, that was just a way to display how it looks in comparison.
Thanks guys, been looking forward to this one, nice start to the weekend for me
Looks like only 2.0 is available in the download area :/
Sorry about that – the download file had 2.1 in it, but the labeling in the forum still said 2.0. That has been fixed by our team.
I was all, is that the theme I’m using (who remembers names), and then I looked, and then it was, and then I was like, ooo-oooh. Very cool. Great update.
Nice update. Thanks!

I also want to say that I had serious issues with that first font change here at StudioPress but I’m loving this latest one!
And I’m offer to investigate your source…
Erhem…off, that is.
I’ve been planning a switch from the eleven40 to the News theme for several reasons, including the narrower layout and extra features such as after post ads and more widget areas. However, I’ve held off because News isn’t responsive yet.
So, I’m thinking the new responsive Magazine theme might be a good middle ground. It looks like it has some of the same layout features as News, including home-top, home-middle, and home-top. Is that correct? This would be ideal for me because I want to be able to add various news sections to my home page (Latest news, latest obituaries, latest opinion, etc.). Also, would I be able to insert ads in more places, such as after posts and content?
Thank you.
Yes, we recommend using our Genesis Simple Hooks plugin to make adding extra areas fast and easy!
Thanks for the update! Looking forward to making the changes.
Thank you guys to update these “old” themes to mobile responsive version!
In iPad portrait mode, the slider needs some extra css to look fine.
Do you think I can use it for a town/city website?
Hi Philippe I am trialing a town info site at http://innewry.com/ and so far works although it is only partially populated. I previously used Lifestyle and when the new version is released might be tempted to go back to Lifestyle
Thank’s Joseph i wait dor the Lifestyle new version
thanks!
This is a great update, Brian. Thank you. We moved to the Genesis Framework about six months ago and chose the Magazine Theme… we could not be happier. I’ve customized the site immensely since then so things are not “perfect” (yet) via the Mobile Responsive Design… but I’m up for the challenge.
