  1. Thanks guys – I’ve been waiting on this update and it looks great on mobile devices! Off to upgrade…

  2. Wow! That’s fast. So you’re going to release updates on a weekly basis for the time being? ;)
Looking forward to Backcountry with a responsive design. Really like that theme. Keep up the great work!

    • Heh, I don’t know about a weekly basis, but we’re definitely moving towards making all of our current themes mobile responsive. Along the way, some might receive design updates as well.

    • Yes!! Been waiting for Months for the backcountry theme! Hopefully it will be available soon.

  3. Great to see these classic and good themes to step forward. Good work! Thank you!

I have one wish though: I wish if all the menus are going to be “select” in mobile devices or use twitter bootstrap method, which would be the perfect solution IMO.

  4. Thanks for making a good theme even better. I’ve been very happy with the News theme since I used it to redesign my site a little more than a month ago, and I’m excited to manually upgrade and make it mobile responsive.

    Very cool.

    Daniel

  5. Great job guys, was just wondering about a mobile responsive version of this the other day. Particularly great news coming so soon after the Magazine update as well. Kudos!

  6. Finally happy to see responsive design on News Theme. Must appreciate your great work!

  7. Nice! I was wondering when this one would come out!

  8. I can see why you have to put in 12 / 14 hour days now Brian.
Your updating the themes to be mobile responsive has worked out pretty well for me.

I’m attempted to write a review of all the Pro Plus themes and rather than have to work my way through all the themes, I’m just waiting until the responsive version is released and then writing the review.

    Yes… working out pretty well.

  9. I’ve already purchased News 2.0.1 but haven’t activated it on my site yet. I’m not a Pro Plus member. Is there a way to upgrade automatically, or do I have to do a manual update after I activate the theme on my site?

  10. You guys rock! Been a StudioPress Pro member for years. Your company is one of the most “responsive” I’ve ever seen. Love the themes, options, & evolution from All Pro Pckg to Genesis + child to specialized plugins & responsive design. Just waiting on your TV tutorials & then I’m set! I’m basing my research career off of mobile design & your framework is going to be responsible for delivering behavior change interventions!

  11. I upgraded yesterday afternoon and happy with the responsive version. Now I removed 1 more plugin. lol

    Great Job Brian and team.

  12. I cant figure out how to update. I dont know where to put the code in the tutorial or find thecode to remove. Is it in the news theme or genesis????? News I assume since its an upgrade but I can’t find it. Another question what files do we create?

Please direct me where I can get help changing the width of sidebar on news theme

  13. Christian Nelson :

I’m happy that you work to keep the themes updated and working well, but I’m just wondering about something related to these updates: I bought the ProPlus Package a few months ago, and I keep all the Zip files in a folder…and so far I have not used many of the themes. When I download the updated versions of the themes, it’s a little bit off-putting when the Zip file for the updated version has the exact same as the Zip file for the previous version. It may not seem to be very important to some, but to me it always a bit of a concern when I am replacing the old file with the new file. Is there some reason why you choose to not indicate the version number in the name of the Zip file?

    • Christian, thanks for your concerns. Right now we do it this was since we have a number of places where we point to the download link. We are working on a system which should hopefully be implemented soon which should make this experience better. Stay tuned.

  14. Excellent! Looks great Brian! Was hoping you would keep it the similar!

  15. Agree with Surbma above, I hope all the responsive design themes will have the dropdown menu in mobile view.

  16. Hey, great looking template. However, for an amateur like me would you tell me how to make my site look like the template demo? Do you have a sample content site I can install, without having to go through editing each individual element? I wish I would prefer to have the site look and feel exactly like the demo so I can edit the elements right there. Any ideas?

    • Our themes are like any other WordPress themes, in that they will have the basic outline, and you will need to enter content to get the exact same appearance. For instance, many of our home pages rely on widgets, which involves inputting your content, then dragging a widget to the proper sidebar area. It’s just a matter of a few minutes (and no coding, FTP, or graphic editing) to have your site looking just like our demo.
We even show you how to import the demo content, should you choose to load that and then edit it to meet your specifications.

  17. this theme is really awesome… how can i download this ??

    • To access a new copy of the theme, please just use the link provided in your original download email.

Please Note: If you’ve downloaded a copy before, please do save this new version to a different location on your computer. All server links point to the new file(s), but your computer may not replace them properly if you choose the same download location.

If you haven’t yet purchased the theme, just follow the link in the post above to purchase it.

  18. Simple, but effective theme. I like how the top ad for this theme is within the white space near the logo and the flexibility of layouts – it’s a nice addition I’ve been seeing many more theme designers adding.

  19. This is a fantastic way to start my day! I have been wondering what direction to go with my site(s) for mobile and now I don’t have to wonder. Great work guys. You ROCK! BTW, I am a longtime pro member and one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thank you.

  20. Not sure if it’s been mentioned but News 2.1 is not showing up in the Theme Chooser tool as a mobile responsive theme: http://www.studiopress.com/choose-theme/ ;)

  21. this is a superb theme. just like the others. i actually landed here searching for genesis theme and now this has made me choice so confusing. there is nothing less from you guys and want to say kudos.

  22. How to change the coding in.htaccess only for separately taken plug-in?

  23. in css probably so?

  24. I have the news child theme 2.0 installed. But recently I upgraded to WordPress 3.4.2 and my home page, blog page, and widgets are all jacked up. Do I have to purchase news chlid them 2.1? If so, how do I only purchase that and not the Genesis Framework again. (already have that). And for the life of me, I am logged into the forum but I don’t seem to have permissions to view anything. Every time I try it says I have limited permissions. This has wasted my entire Saturday. I NEED HELP!

    • Hi Tracey – sorry you’re having difficulties with your forum access! Please contact us with your full name, and the email address used to make the purchase, and I’ll be glad to assist you with that and with a new version of the theme.
