The Production Theme has been retired and is no longer available for purchase. See our StudioPress and Community themes available for sale.
Production was developed by Nick Croft of Designs By Nick the Geek, and can be found in the StudioPress Marketplace. As a reminder, these are quality themes from our community and not included in the Pro Plus All-Themes package, but we assure you that the design and coding of them are top-notch.
Theme Features
The Production child theme includes the following features: 10 color styles, 3 layout options, custom background, custom menus, featured images, fixed width, theme options, threaded comments.
Most importantly, Production is the first Genesis based video theme available in the Market Place. It makes use of the brand new Genesis Media Project plugin, also developed by Nick, to add responsive and simple Video support to Production.

Sweet so the much awaited theme from Nick is finally here. Really a nice theme when it comes to video blogging..Thanks Nick for this…
One question though..is it the first video blogging theme?
It is the first one in StudioPress or the Market place, there are others that aren’t Genesis based for sure, and it is possible there are some out there that I’m not aware of that are Genesis based. In fact, I have one I built about a year ago but never released, some issues need to be dealt with on it, but it is one of my next projects.
Thanks and you’re welcome
This looks cool. Is it mobile responsive of does this type of theme not lend itself to mobile?
Do not really have a use for this but may just buy it and put it in my kitbag for a future project.
Any live sites you can point us to?
P.S. I wish a detailed press release would accompany theme releases. Would be more informative and reduce need for many questions.
It is mobile responsive. I am using CSS and the fitvid javascript as a combined effort for maximum responsiveness for the videos.
There aren’t really any live sites beside the demo, it just came out today, but check the forum, I’ve already setup a show case thread, so I’m hoping for sites to show off very soon.
I’ll also be posting a little bit later the final QA announcing the theme sale. I agree that more info is a good thing, but the theme release post can be nice and concise with the questions handled in a more appropriate venue, that way folks looking for details will get that but the folks just after the nitty gritty details get that too. Pretty much a win win.
For more details, please see the two articles I wrote in anticipation of the release

Perfect!!! I can use this. I love Studiopress. It always feels nice when you are happy with a product and can recommend it to others.
Thanks, I’m really glad you like it and that you can recommend it.
Great work ncroft, really perfect! i like them..
Ashley, thank you very much.
Congratulations, Nick! It looks great!
Susan, Thanks. I’m really excited to have it out, I’m sure you know how that feels.
Guys, the slider from this theme is a total ripoff from Wpzoom’s Video theme.
I can assure you that it isn’t a rip off, I’ve never actually seen the theme and coded everything for the tabber myself.
I just looked up the theme and I can certianly see the resemblance; however I did my work separate from that, today is the first time I saw it, and this tabber is better in a few ways, including the fact that it is responsive, uses ajax, and is part of a very involved plugin.
I have used GPL code within the plugin, the Custom MetaBox Class is a good example, but it is fully attributed per the GPL guidelines. It is very important to me to correctly attribute and thank developers that have inspired or helped me. Again, you can see my posts about the theme and plugin for more details.
Really excited about this theme Nick!
Lots of video themes out there but the huge benefit of Production is that it’s coded by a professional like “you” and built on the Genesis Framework.
Brad, thanks. That really means a lot coming from a profesional of your caliber.
damn – Im behind in several projects and now I’ve got to find time to get this little bugger in the works. It looks like what I might have designed if I’d had the good sense to design a theme. I am a video guy and have never found a really great theme. I’m givin’ the big ‘ol hat-tip to the work.
Hopefully with this you’ll be able to catch up on all those video projects instead of having to try and smash your way through. Thanks.
@Nick the Geek
Well designed Video Child Theme! Can say simply awesome with the design and theme’s features.
Good Job!
Suren, Thank you very much.
Wow, a video blogging child theme for Genesis. I hope soon niche theme like job board, coupons theme etc. will also be launched for Genesis. Genesis is on its way to becoming the all in one solution for WordPress theming.
I have a couple ideas for some other niche themes. I think it’s a great market to get into. Smaller market, but a smaller pool of themes to compete with too.
Fantastic looking theme Nick.
Cool and dynamic……
Like others have mentioned, it’s means so much more to have a theme built on Genesis with code and professions you can trust. I spent some time on thesis and catalyst but after finding Genesis I have never looked back.
Robert,
Thanks. I really appreciate the added value and trust and strive to honor that.
Hi Nick,
Congratulations for your release. As always, great job. You rock!
I have seen the great Genesis Media Project plugin. It’s been a long time looking for such a plugin, but more important is the developers that develop such plugins.
Awesome!
Daniel,
Thanks, and I hope to make the Genesis Media Project into the premier media plugin. Big plans there.
Hi Nick
Congratulations on the theme and the plugin – hope both become very popular.
I’m in the process of putting a page together featuring the Genesis Marketplace themes so “Production” will be featured there.
I’ll also put a post together for this theme.
“…the first Genesis based video theme available in the Market Place.”
So give me a headline Nick… why is this the WordPress video theme to choose?
Keith, Thanks. I’d love to write a killer headline for you, but I’m much better with code than headlines. These articles I wrote detailing the features will probably help though

Thanks for the links Nick.
I can come up with a good headline, but when it comes to code…. I’ll be knocking on your door.
I have a client who produces video and we will need a way to integrate it smoothly into his site. This looks promising–will have to look at it in detail. Awesome, Nick!
If they want to showcase videos this should be the ideal solution. I’ve tried to make it useful on many levels, for example, the tabber can be inserted into multiple pages featuring different videos via shortcode and the built in “slideshow” taxonomy. That is something I’ve seen people ask for with pretty much every slider, tabber, and other featured widget. Now it is there and super easy to use.
You read my mind…I have a client who needs this ASAP. Thanks!!!
So many people have practically begged for a video-centric theme that it not surprising you have a client with this need right now. I”m really glad it is out in time for you. Thanks and you’re welcome.
This theme is really great – good-lucking, great video technology with plugin und just focusing on the essential things. Nothing overbloated, just awesome Genesis stuff. This way it should be!!
And did I mention, it’s fully internationalized? German and French translations included, loading out of the box!
Come on, and rock! I love this theme – props to Nick and SP!
Huge thanks to David and Paul for making the German and French translation files.
Also a note/request to others. If you make a translation please share it in the forums. I made a sticky post for the translation files.
Hey Great!
Is this theme also good for video blogging? (maybe a stupid question, but I’m an absulote newbee!!)
THanks!
Helen, It should be great for a video blog. The video posts don’t go to the main RSS feed, but they will have their own feed or you can use some code or a plugin to merge the two feeds. I’m also planning some things like a “featured video widget” in the plugin, which will add to the cool things you can do.
Great! Thanks Nick!
All I can say is… where is the LOVE BUTTON!!!
Anita, thanks. reading your comment and everyone else’s makes me really feel the love.
I bought it right after I made this post!! Great job!
Just wanted to let you know that I just purchased your theme Nick.
Looks great and it is ideal for a new personal project showcasing videos of local amateur sports teams that I record. Checked it out on my iPhone and it looks good (needs a few small tweaks).
Your help in the StudioPress forums has been unparalleled and I’m quite happy to return the favor with a purchase. Keep up the good work!
Jim, thanks. I’m glad to hear you bought it, that’s always good to hear. I’m also very glad to hear how much you appreciate the help in the forums.
Thanks again, and you’re welcome.
Oh man, I think this theme is awesome. If I didn’t recently switch over to the News Theme…I’d go with this one. Nicely done!
Charles, high praise, thanks. News 2.0 is a pretty slick theme too.
Wow.. very nice theme Nick.
Joie, thanks. Always great to hear good feedback.
Your Production video theme may be just the way to feature the instructional videos we’ll be creating for a Tool Lending Library webapp I’ve developed. Thanks for doing all the hard work!
Michael, thanks. Be sure to share this in the forum thread I setup when it is done, I’m very interested in seeing it.
Nick, please consider for your long list of upcoming feature requests…….titles/labels/captions, call it what you will, for identifying the video thumbnails in the slider section of your theme (and the plugin). I can already see the need….visitors are accustomed to Vimeo and YouTube, and comfortable with some text below the thumbnails to help identify the videos.
