Wanted: image carousel which doesn't need GD function

Hi,

I am having problems with getting an image carousel working on my site. I'm trying to use NextGen Gallery and Portfolio Slideshow Pro.

Both give error messages telling me that I need to have GD library or function in place. I have contacted my web host (www.uk2.net) and they have given me some instructions on how to upload this to the server.

I may have to do this but really, I don't even know how I'd go about doing that sort of thing and would probably have to pay someone to do this for me.

So my question is –*are there any image carousels out there that do not need the GD function?

Thanks,
Cat

The GD function is not specific to slider - it does image manipulation, like making thumbnails, on the server side.

I'm actually really surprised your host doesn't have it installed and is seemingly not interested in doing it for you. It's pretty standard to have.

Thanks for your reply, Andrea.

Presumably most carousels / image-related plugins are going to need this and that searching for one which doesn't need it is a bit pointless?

Pretty much, yes. WordPress itself depends on it for image manipulation.

Thanks Andrea, that's very helpful - I'll get back to my web host about this!
