Suitable hosting response time
Hi
I hope I have this in the right forum! I am going through the process of optimising one of our sites www.extrafriends.co.uk and my question is, what kind of wait time is acceptable for VPS hosting? At the moment I seem to be getting c.2.3s on my UK server when tested from Holland. Thanks James. |
If the server is optimized right and not overloaded you should be able to get a site to load in 1-3 seconds with a reasonable internet connection.
Of course there are a ton of variables and things you can do with your site to better optimize it. I have done a speed audit and taken a site from 30-50seconds loading down to less than 2 seconds, without changing servers or server settings. Eliminating unneeded plugins, using proper caching, and streamlining queries goes a long way to speeding up load times. |
Thanks Nick. What do you mean by streamlining queries?
|
Making sure you aren't running extra queries you don't need to run. Caching the responses so they can be used again instead of having to go back to the database. Things like that.
