How to implement author pages (author.php)

I'm stuck in implementing author pages with my Genesis child theme and was wondering if anyone could point me in the correct direction.

I have uploaded a new author.php file and just put some test html in there however Genesis doesn't seem to be picking it up when I navigate to the author page.

e.g. domain.com/author/wil

Ref: http://codex.wordpress.org/Author_Te...ile_is_Used.3F

This works fine with regular (non-Genesis) WP themes but for my theme it just reverts back to the homepage of the site.

Any help would be appreciated.

Wil.

Can I get a link to your site, so I can go look?

I;ve seen this be an issue before and it was usually a plugin.

Lack of an author.php does not mean the link fails. If you look at the Template Hierarchy for WP, it falls back to using hte category archive template.

Thanks Andrea,

The link is:
http://www.limecanvas.com/author/wil

The homepage has some blog posts on it and you'll see each post is associated with an author. That link should open the author.php template but doesn't.

Cheerz,
Wil.

See the template hierarchy here:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Hierarchy

There does not need to be an author.php template present to show author archives. That is not the issue.

Please deactivate all your plugins. The Wordpress SEO plugin specifically has a feature that redirect the author archives back to the home page.

You can even check the author links on any of our demos sites. They work.

Andrea,

You're a life saver. It *was* the WordPress SEO plugin. Grrrr....

Yes, it's come up in the forums before. ;)

Closing as resolved.
