custom post types V featured post/page widget
 

hey guys

i see in some of the newer themes they are using custom post types for the portfolio

where as in the past we would just create a page template with a new widget area and drop the featured page/post widget in there, and configured it how we like, very easy solution and one i still use for clients

but what is your thoughts on using custom post types instead?

With a custom post type, it removes the portfolio from the rss feed and from the blog archives so they are completely separated.
