My header is boring

www.saratogamomprom.com

I just created a custom header for my client's website, but I think it's boring. It feels kind of "flat", do you know what I mean? It doesn't "pop" off the page. Any ideas how I can make it look more interesting?

There are too many fonts. Limit yourself to 2. Right now you have a slab serif, a script, and a handwriting font, which is really another kind of script font. This makes for a muddy typography. Step back and think through your fonts.

The overlay "shadows" don't match the style of the 50's looking woman to the left. You need to get these to have consistency. If you are going "sex in the city" then match both sides. If you want 50's chic then also match it up. Things should be internally consistent.

You should look into subtle textures to get "pop." Solid colors are flat. Slight shadows, textures, and other effects make for things that look like you can touch. Real life stuff isn't solid color. That said, don't apply more than a couple effects. You have frames, borders, lights, and a gradient in the internal logo. Get a very subtle texture outside of this so it feels like it is on a real wall or something.

your graphic is pixelated and super low resolution

imo you should delete the purple background, make the file transparent by saving as a .png file, and put in a higher & larger resolution version of your "Seratoga Mom Prom" banner thing.

that would be a good start I think
