Building a website offline
 

I would like to completely overhaul one of my websites, but the domain needs to remain in use during the makeover.


Is there a way I can make the website elsewhere - like at another domain - and move it over once it's finished?

Or can I build a studiopress theme offline, and move it once finished?

You can build it offline using xamp or mamp but I recommend doing your work online incase you need help. You could use another domain if you have one or setup a subdomain or even install WordPress into a sub-folder of your current site. This will leave your existing site live but make it possible for use to help if you run into trouble.
