Changing Child Theme

Hi

I use sleek, bus if i decide to change with other child theme, i lose the seo settings an other settings?

NicktheGeek 11-10-2012 08:20 AM

No, the settings are separate from the theme and part of Genesis. Home and other special widgets will not likely translate from one to the other though. the Header Right, Primary, and Secondary sidebars should all work.

An my post seo settings? Example: some posts have noindex. Some tag have noindex and noarchive...

NicktheGeek 11-10-2012 08:30 AM

Those are part of the database. They will not be affected.

Sorry for my bud english, you not understand.

I use seo genesis, i not use plugin for seo.

I change child theme, all seo settings remain unchanged?

I would also refer to individual posts and individual tags (some tags are indexed, others tag I have chosen not to have them indexed by google)

Edit: add support Italian, for me is impossible.... :)

If you are changing to another Genesis child theme then those settings will not be affected in any way shape or form. They are part of Genesis settings, not the child theme.

Sadly I do not speak Italian. I have friends in Italy who speak it very well. I went with French and Latin, so I can read a bit of Italian not that this helps.

I have problem of memory (example Cannot allocate memory: couldn't create child).

I wanted to know if the cause is Genesis. If i disactive Genesis, my seo setting lose them?

This is a problem... if i lose the settings seo...

If you switch to another Genesis child theme the SEO settings will not be touched. If you switch to a different theme such as Twenty Eleven, the SEO settings will be deactivated but will not be lost. When you activate a Genesis child theme again the settings will remain.

The ONLY way the settings will be lost is if they are intentionally removed from the database. This takes intentional and extra steps. It is not something you can accidentally do.

But if problem of memory, are caused by Genesis, i delete Genesis an i do a fresh install. In this case my seo setting lose them?

It is all part of the database. Unless you go into your database and edit that it will not affect it. The files are separate from the database.

You will not lose your settings unless you work extra hard to get rid of them.

if before disabling Genesis, i install a seo plugin. I setting seo plugin an after uninstall Genesis?

NicktheGeek 11-11-2012 07:48 PM

If you use a third party SEO plugin it will disable Genesis SEO. The settings will not be lost but they will not be used.
