developing a site off line, then uploading it after it's completed.

I am recreating a website that is currently online using the nitrous theme.

It's prob. best not to have any downtime for the site, while I'm building it out.

When I'm working on a template should I (somehow) disallow google and other search engines to be able to see/crawl my site until it's completed?
