best way to hide page from nav bar?

I would like to add some pages but do not want them to show on the navigation bar.... I did so by using exclude pages plugin. It worked but on other parts of site I am wanting to use the categories...

When you are logged in everything looks great!

when you are not the sidebar starts overlapping to the right
