parent page link in menu -- can it be "deactivated?"

If I have a parent page called "pages" and several children such as "child1, child2, child3" etc can i configure the menu so that a user can only click on the children and not on the parent?

even in its own text widget it won't center...weird.

also i just noticed that all the themes look funny in firefox...maybe it's my computer? i'm posting in FF and this forum even looks funny.

OK, after thinking it through I think hard coding was the way to go. I replaced the the <div id=subnav>....</div> code in header.php with hardcoded tags linking to my IDX solution and dynamically...

nevermind that...it's a different issue. if i pick the "sub category" from the "category" drop down I'm displaying "all posts in the sub category." which defaults to the "blog template" for showing...

just tried disabling all plugins, even featured content gallyery. still get the sidebars and don't get my test output from the tempalte file. ???
