Why did they use Minimum?

I was browsing the showcase today because I am interested in doing a site with Minimum, but when I looked at the sites that were done with it, they look nothing remotely close to minimum. So I am curious why anyone would pick a theme and make that site nothing like the theme shown. Whats the point?
