i have a list of names that i'd like to be searchable from a search box.
for example: - type the name on the search box (the name appears on the search result if it's in the list) OR - type the name on the search box (the name does not appear on the search result if it's not on the list) it's simple, it's either on the list or not. do you recommend any plugins? preferrably one that does not require code or behind the scenes programming? thank you! abby |

Not sure if this is a solution your looking for but it might be.
When you type in something into the search box it gives you an exact link returned for that searched item. If you want that link to go to a specific post/page then what you can do is load up the "redirection" plugin (do a search and install it). Then in the redirection plugin you say my search return link = the link of the page/post I want someone to view. Hope that's the solution you were looking for.

thank you Brian!
i don't think i posed my question very well ... sorry! the intent is for the user to be able to search a name. the simplest way to do it is to give them a list of these names. but i was hoping they could have a 'tool' - like a search box. where they can enter a name, to see if the name they just entered is on the list. if the name shows up in the search. it's in the list. if the name does not show up in the search. it's not on the list. all they would see is the search tool (search box to enter the name). and then the list would be behind the scenes - so to speak. is there a plugin for this? that doesn't require code or programming? i hope i did better! thank you! abby |

I think that widget only works with AgentPress.
If you want people to type something into the search field, you might want to consider the redirection idea I said before.
