I currently run a large website used as an intranet for a real estate company. It's on a Joomla platform which I hate and it's really outdated. Basically the site holds all kinds of forms, documents, notices etc...It's secure membership(as secure as Joomla can be at any given time). I would love to move this over to a Wordpress platform if it can continue to be secure login's and I can get all the documents in there some how, I use docma in Joomla and that is a great program. I would love suggestions. Thank you. Erin

Using Genesis? Any particular plugin's you'd recommend? Lots of documents and also need a secure login for all users that I can control who registers.

The theme would not matter - the setup would be the same.
WordPRess already has its own login system. You can use the same plugins in an intranet that you can online.

I guess what I meant to say, not very well is there a way to make an intranet, where pages are only viewable after login and the site is accessed and used through the front end pages not the back end. Documents would be accessed from the from end menu etc... but there might be public pages but others would be private.

Yes, that would likely be membership plugin based. There are dozens and dozens of plugins to do this. :)
http://getpremise.com is only one of them.

Hi Erin - Here's how I do it - http://mynameisangie.com/building-a-...ing-wordpress/ . And to manage the documents, I use the Document Revisions or Document Repository plugins, depending on exactly what you need to do with your documents.

I saw this post on intranets and thought I'd suggest using this all in one WordPress plugin here: www.simpleintranet.org. It does security, activity feeds, employee directory, events, forms... lots of stuff in a single plugin. :)
