Hello, I purchased the FREELANCE theme last night and I was really excited about it, but frankly I am a bit concerned - it seems more complicated to customize the site than I was expecting. [URL="http://www.dardencareerservices.com/"]
I am planning to print and read the Genesis Guide for Absolute Beginners today. I have no experience with building a website - am I really going to be able to do this? I was a mainframe programmer (COBOL, FORTRAN) back in the dark ages before I moved into the HR field. (I am glad to know there is a thirty day money back guarantee in case this adventure doesn't work out). I need to be able to do things like: (a) allow my customers to pay by credit card over the website (b) hook-in "how to" videos (c) provide "further reading links" and (d) allow customers to "like" my site on facebook, etc. I want my website to be constantly fresh and changing, that's why I want to build it myself...so I know how to maintain it. I am also hoping to offer website building services for job seekers who want to put their resume on their own website and access links to relevant social media such as LINKEDIN. Will I be able to do all this myself or do I need to get professional help? I am attempting to keep startup costs down as much as possible. Please advise. Thank you, Heather P.S., I am excited to see that there is a new customer service portal coming soon! |

Oh man, flashback to my COBOL days... :D
As long as you are willing to learn new thing,s then YES you can do it yourself. :) Just take it in small bites. Most fo what you asked about was general Wordpress knowledge. For general WP help, see these: http://wp.tutsplus.com/sessions/wp101-basix-training/ Quote:
Give the Guide a read, and start playing around - ANYTHING can be fixed so try not to worry about screwing it up. I found breaking things was how I learned it best.
