Default Suggestions for membership site

I am looking for suggestions please from the community...

I want to build a site with a membership element and possibly a social networking facility. There is also going to be a subscription element.

Should i keep it in the family and look into Premise or is there something else better suited to my needs?

Looking forward to your input....

Thanks!

John,

Sounds like premise will cover what you need, though it is hard to say for sure with only those details.

Thanks Nick,
i was perhaps a little vague...although the details in my head are still a little sketchy as to how i am going to accomplish what i need to do.

I think really what i'm looking to do is provide profile pages for a subscription, and to deny access to the profile if payment stops.

Would this be some sort of a mixture of Premise and Buddypress...or is it something i would need to heavily code from scratch?

Sounds like you need a custom solution or at least partially custom. I would probably use Premise with a custom post type, a plugin to allow the profile post type to be made and edited on the front end, and some custom code to tie it all together.
