Hi
I'm a new convert to the Genesis Framework and I love it! My only issue, as a web designer and developer who will be customising themes quite heavily and adding all manner of features such as directories (using the great Formidable Pro), and ecommerce, is the page that the footer link goes to which shouts out about how easy the process is and how cheap. I worry that this sends out the wrong message to clients who may think that I am taking some super easy shortcut to developing their site and somehow "cheating" and not putting in the hours that I charge for. I do want to leave the link to Genesis in place as I like to be honest about the process and promote you but wish you had an alternative page I could link to that explains more clearly that just choosing a theme at a very cheap price is not always a shortcut to an instant website and that adding certain features requires skill and time. I do see you have a dilemma in wanting to promote this as a good solution for people who want to create their own website (which it is), and yet still accommodate professional developers and designers who might worry that your current link in the footer makes it look like they can churn out a site in 10 minutes for under $100, but do think that a new alternative page explaining this in more detail whould be great. Sorry to go on for so long ;) Lynne |

Try this http://www.studiopress.com/tutorials/customize-footer
You might want to familiarize yourself with the resources tab. Lots of good stuff there for designers.

I know how to edit the footer and am learning quickly how to do all kinds of things to make Genesis do what I want. It's the issue of the default page that is linked to, specifically this: http://www.studiopress.com/themes/genesis My issue is that it would be a good idea to set up an alternative page for developers to link to which clarifies that, yes it can be easy, but for more advanced customisations a certain level of skill is required and, if that is the case, it isn't necessarily a quick and easy solution for the unskilled. Fact is that the unskilled who read this (who could be my clients) can easily misunderstand and think I am not putting in the hours! I see that a brief statement is given to acknowledge this "Whether you're are a novice or advanced developer" but the loudest message conveyed is about how simple it all is. Keep the main intro page by all means, but offer an alternative page explaining that work that can take many hours, is required for advanced customisations. If there already is an existing page that fulfils this function point me to it! |

I think your asking if StudioPress can put up a customized page on their site built for developers clients. Is that right?
Typically devs want to remove all credit that goes back to StudioPress. Its pretty easy to change the credit that goes to StudioPress on both the front end and back end.

I know that it's easy! I can do it! However why would StudioPress want to miss the opportunity to have developers promote the framework? Will remove the credits then if no alternative but would have thought the idea of having a link left on a website by developers would be a *very good thing*. It's a relatively simple thing to do. |
