Assign Images for Featured Categories

How do you assign images to a post so that when it comes up under the featured category there is an image to go along with it?

Do you want an image to appear in the main Featured position on the homepage?

If so, here's what I do. I size an image 588 x 400 (although I'm not sure that's necessary to size ahead of time - I do it to keep the images consistent). Upload it using upload/insert Add and Image. Copy the url and paste it into the Custom Field/Value box down the screen. Then in the dropdown, select articleimg. press update and save the post and it should appear in the main window on the front. Make sure your post is in the featured category. And make sure you have followed the instructions on installing the Featured content plugin if you haven't already. I think photos won't show up there until there is more than one post in the featured category, though.

Debra Thank you so much you answered my question!

Mophojo this is definitly something that I am trying to do but I am lost. My categories are all set up so my articles appear under each area but the images wont show up for the flash. Did I miss something? Thank you soooo much!

It looks like you're having a similar problem to some others:

and I assume you've read through this:

I'm sorry I don't have a good answer for you - that one's beyond me. I'm always getting plugin conflicts and especially around an WP upgrade time. So if you haven't already, try turning off all your plugins, then reactivate Featured Gallery and see if it works. If it does, then reactivate the others one at a time, each time checking to see if FGC is still working. If you have a conflict, it may show up this way.

David thanks so much for the help. My black dot is gone and I am able to post articles to go into that area. Now I am just having a hard time figuring out how to add the photos into the video. I know you said earlier to just assign it in the custom fields but that didn't work for me. I made sure that it was the right size.
