Summary Read More on Homepage

What I did on the homepage is create my post.
Then I copied the 1st few paragraphs of that post and manually typed in Read More!
with a link to the full post, copied the html and post it in the Middle Homepage Widget.

There has got to be an easier, faster way. Where I dont have to do this manually.

Any suggestions?
