Is there a way to force a certain permalink?
Let me explain, say i wanted to send someone to: http://videobasedtrainingcompanies.c...rs-area/login/ It will work while the login is part of the parent category nav menu, but when it is in say: http://videobasedtrainingcompanies.c...rs-area/login/ where it is under the links sub category, it will not divert through, as the first url is the one I want I tried to edit the permalinks, but it will not allow me to edit it the way I want to get it working, the only other way I can see it working is by not using sub categories Any suggestions? Not sure whether I have explained this too good? Warmest Regards, Gordon

I think I understand what you're saying.
That second link doesn't exist. But if you had a links subcategory, if it were, say, a link in a widget, you'd create a link that would go to that login page. If it were in a "links" subcategory, then can't you have the member login there as well? I think what you may be after is a redirect. There is a plugin for WordPress that will do this. You could also set up a redirect on your server to make certain URLs go to specific locations on your site.

Hello Violet, I know the second link does not exist, I was just trying to give an example of what it was I was trying to put across
If it were in a "links" subcategory, then can't you have the member login there as well? No, not that I can see with the membership script I am using, as you can set a url where you want to go after a person logins, so say for example, I had it set to /members-area/login (this would be set from my script admin panel) that is fine while it is in the root directory, ie in this case it would be http://videobasedtrainingcompanies.com but when you have wordpress throwing in links or profiles or other sub cats in the mix then it is messing it up, the membership script I am using only allows me to specify on url for the login Yes, I think it could well be a redirect I am after, I will do a search at Wordpress for redirect plugins Anyone on here recommend a redirect plugin they use with WP that they like? I will also look into the possibility of server side setup Thanks for the suggestions Violet, very helpful Warmest Regards, Gordon

I have had a look at some of the wp redirect plugins and tried a few, not really what I am after.
Here we go, and I'll try and explain myself a little better :-) What is happenning is this: This is going to be my login link when I have this operational: http://videobasedtrainingcompanies.c...rs-area/login/ If I use subcategories, the sub cat id will come in eg. your links/members-area/login/ yourprofile/members-area/login/ etc and will mess up the login url I can use the permalink redirect to fix that ok BUT..... my problem is that for a non member they are presented with a login link, and it is set through the membership site script to go to the home page http://videobasedtrainingcompanies.com/????? You can add in something to go where the ???? are, but then that does not agree with the redirected permalinks Does that make sense? The only way I see of fixing it is to not have sub categories, or just get a different membership site script as I have had nothing but bother with the one that I am trialling at the moment I had thought of Membersmart Pro, has anyone else any suggestions re scripts that are good to run in conjunction with the Studiopress Themes? Warmest Regards, Gordon
