Default database tables

You mentioned restoring the database tables, did you do a find replace on the old domain with the new domain?

May also need to do it on the username (if standard unix/linux hosting setup).

IE. home/username/

The database tables have a lot of references we generally aren't aware of (especially if you use a lot of plugins).
