The key needs to be "thumb". And different hosts require different permission combinations so it may need to be something like this

tools folder 777
tools/cache 777
timthumb.php 664

tools folder 755
tools/cache folder 755
timthumb.php 644

Also it may be that you need to enter the relative path to the image instead of the absolute path
