Trying to put Featured Content Slideshow in News Child theme

I'm trying to put the Featured Content Slideshow in the News Child theme. After installing the plugin, configuring it according to the instructions, and then setting up three posts to go with it, I couldn't figure out any way to get it on my home page, since it's all widgetized.

I want to put it in the featured top section, so I tried putting the code into home.php in the part for the featured-top widget:

<?php include (ABSPATH . '/wp-content/plugins/featured-content-gallery/gallery.php'); ?>

But I couldn't get it to work. Any ideas? thanks!
