Default eCommerce Plugin

Hi -

I just applied the Church template to my WP bLog and now I'm looking to extend it even more with a shopping cart. Any suggestions/recommendations on an eCommerce plugin(s) that will play nicely with the this template and WP v2.7?

Thanks! I gave that one a try but it has conflicts with Featured Content Gallery and based on Yelen's comments
here it does not look like a good match:

Code:
wp-eccomerce uses jquery framework, fcg uses motools framework, they are not compatible

e-Junkie is a pretty good one.

You can see how I implemented it on the Streamline theme http://www.upspowershop.com/xtreme-power-ups/xprt-ups/.

That's what they used here when you purchased your template.

Thanks Bruce!

I checked it out, but personally I'm not keen on the pop-up cart/checkout style as it reminds me too much of PayPal (which I'm trying to avoid).. I'm looking for something that's seamless/transparent to the user.

Oh no. Not WP e-commerce again. Yuck! :)

I'm flashing back to my unpleasant experience with it:
http://www.revolutiontheme.com/support/ ... f=7&t=7734

And it hasn't gotten any better apparently:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/242067?replies=2

I just don't think it's a good choice.

I've tried eShop lately for an application where I don't need a big, super-duper featured cart and I think it might be a good solution for the site I'm working on.

I ended up using CubeCart for another site because it's really full-featured and lots of templates available. You can customize it to look like your site if you want. For me, that wasn't important or desired.

I've just started using Shopp. It seems to be behaving better than Instinct's at this point. http://shopplugin.net/

I listened to a Podcast with the owner and creator of Shopp. It seems pretty nice and flexible.

The Podcast is WordPress Weekly, Episode 37. Free Podcast on ITunes.

I'm wondering if there is a plugin/widget that can detect which page it is connected to, then send the user to certain sites? What I had in mind was creating a product page with a "buy" widget in the sidebar. If the user clicks "buy," the widget knows to send/him her to affiliate for productA rather than productB.

newslancers...are you talking about linking to an outside site via affiliate link? Not sure exactly what you're wanting to do.

Yes. Users would view a general information page on my site, then click on a "buy" button that would take then to an affiliate, such as e-junkie. I want to avoid creating a "buy" button for every information page, instead employing a smart sidebar widget that could detect which page is connected to the button. So, if I have a "widgets" information page, the user would be sent to my "widgets" affiliate, rather than my "plumbing" affiliate.

I think this can be done on the WP-eCommerce plugin... check at the bottom of the product page, there's an "offsite" link option. Don't know if this does exactly what you're hoping, but it might.

Just an update on the Shop Plugin. Thus far, I've had much more success with integrating the plugin than I did with Instinct's. Also, it seems more intuitive than Instinct's. While, Instinct's plugin has a few more features than Shop, the support is much much better for Shop. (Let me just say that I even went as far as to request paid support for Instinct's plugin for specific tax issues and never got a response - twice. I personally think it is buggy.)

The only issue I've had so far is related to needing specific, yet unavailable shipping options. Don't get me wrong, Shop has good shipping options - it is just the site I'm currently working on has specific shipping needs that neither Shop nor WP-ecommerce fulfill.

I'll post a link when I have the site running on it's permanent url.

This plugin, WordPress Simple Paypal Shopping Cart http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/word...art-plugin-768lets you add the ‘Add to Cart’ button anywhere on any post or page. It's a very easy to use plugin
