I had never really looked at this before...

If a post is passwordprotected I get the following in the feed:

There is no excerpt because this is a protected post.

Feedburner would get the same thing.

This might be a good question to ask over at the WordPress.org forums since it's general in nature and you might get a wider audience of people that have had a similar need.
