I'm using Taragana's Del.icio.us mp3 Player Plugin on my home page. Works great; shows up as a small button. It's perfect for my audio greeting in the header (www.statnut.com).
But for longer audio files (lectures, etc.), I want a slider bar, and a download button so they can take the lecture with them. I tried Martin Laine's Audio Player but it REALLY doesn't like FCG. The whole page gets completely distorted. Suggestions? |

Take a look at WP Audio Player: http://wpaudioplayer.com/

Isn't that the one I'm using?

Yes it is. Sorry - wasn't thinking, and posted the wrong one. Try this one: http://an-archos.com/anarchy-media-player/

It worked great, then it died and took my whole site with it. Of course it could have been coincidence but either way it's weird. Instead of the login page for WordPress, here is what the page says:
Warning: require_once(/data/16/1/17/75/1506238/user/1620494/htdocs/wp-config.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /data/16/1/17/75/1506238/user/1620494/htdocs/blog3/wp-content/plugins/anarchy_media/anarchy_media_player.php on line 20 Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/data/16/1/17/75/1506238/user/1620494/htdocs/wp-config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/services/vux/lib/php') in /data/16/1/17/75/1506238/user/1620494/htdocs/blog3/wp-content/plugins/anarchy_media/anarchy_media_player.php on line 20 |

Hmm. I suppose it could be a conflict with another plugin. Regardless, just delete or rename the plugin folder, and WordPress will uninstall it. That should fix the error in the short term.

I can't get into the site. Even by going thru my hosting service, there's no way in. When it crashed, it didn't do it half way. :)

I was referring to FTP. Can you even FTP into your web space?

Yeah, the files are still there. It's not really that big of deal (particularly since I do make backups). It's just a reminder that the creative process requires patience and hard work. :)

You'll need to do as Jeff said Ken and FTP in to your account to delete the plugin.

I removed the folder, and everything came up fine. I tried several other combinations, and still got a fatal error. I removed all of the other plugins too, except Akismet, breadcrumbs, and FCG. Still no go.
So, I'm still looking for a audio player with a slider and download option...one that doesn't crash my site. :) |

Things have gone from bad to badder. Everthing is still there but Dashboard is screwed up.
When writing a post, it shows the four media buttons but not the second row (or the buttom for the second row). And although it's set for Visual (which is fine), when I click on HTML, the posting area disappears. Any ideas on fixing this? I tried to reproduce the site by making a new blog. I could upload the themes but not the posts. I contacted my hosting service but they don't backup the data of mySQL. So that raises another question: how do you backup your posts? |

If you can still access the dashboard you should be able to go to Manage - Export and export an XML file with your existing data.
Sounds like you could do with a fresh install.

In addition to Paul's suggestions, I would replace your WordPress files, by following the upgrade process: http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress.
To backup WordPress, see this article: http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups |

UPDATE:
Exporting the posts was a big help. No perfect (ended up with some duplicated) but worked quite well. I moved it all to a new blog but the pages and categories were all different. So all of the links I had coded didn't work. I had to recode them all. After two days of work, I'm back to where I was a week ago. :) I'm sure a lot of my problem is that I'm not using blog software for its primary use. My front page is much more html than blog. I coded a link in a post to another post by copying the url for my target and pasting it in my link. But when my page and category numbers changed, I had to do it all over again. Is there a better way to do this? |

You should change your permalinks to this Ken...
/%postname%/ Go to Settings - Permalinks in your admin panel and enter this as your custom permalink structure.
