Default Permalinks

Hi there, I wanted to use /%category%/%postname% for my permalinks

but found that if you have FEATURED click it over rides the category you would like to display so instead of BOSTON (for example) the permalink will show

/featured/postname

having to use FEATURED to achieve IMAGE display in the slider messes with the permalink

I have been trying to find a solution via the custom-post-permalinks and custom-permlinks without much success and have started reading more about Custom Post Type UI

EDIT: also looking at Hikari Category Permalink plugin now

but fear I may be going round in circles for a while .. anyone know the best and straight solution, please?

Thanks

G

This is the nature of the way the category for permalinks work. You might be able to trick this into submission by deleting the featured category and adding it back in again so it's at the end of the list. Any categories added after this is done, though, would have the same problem.

Hi Daisy .. thanks for your reply

the Hikari Category Permalink plugin

is making this work for me however I now need to find a way to remove the /category

before category name EVENTS for example

sitename/category/events

achieving this will make WP more CMS like

thanks again

Gavin

There are plugins that will allow this. Do a search in the plugin directory for "Remove Category Base" If I recall correctly there are several options.

Glad to hear you found something that will work for you :-)

Since this issue is resolved I will close this thread to new posts.
