Default Pre-Sales Question - Genesis Photo Slider Customization

I have a client interested in the Serenity theme, but we have a deal-breaker question before we can purchase:

- How much customization can be done to the slider/scrolling photos?

We want the photo to fade in and out...not scroll.

Also we want to make them smaller and insert a newsletter signup box next to the photos.

- Is Genesis like Thesis where you cannot get to the theme files in the editor? Or is it more developer-friendly so I can edit/change/remove the photo slider?

Thanks for the help, and I hope this is the right place to post (I can't get into the Serenity forum since we haven't purchased yet.)

Best,
Julie

Serenity uses the Dynamic Content Gallery plugin to create that slider, if you want one that fades, you can always look at WP Cycle, which is used on Manhattan, for example. You can do a simple template edit to replace the Serenity DCG with WP Cycle.

You can resize both very easily in their respective plugin options.

Likewise with adding a newsletter signup box, so long as you know how to write the code, it's easy.

I guess Genesis is like Thesis, in that the direct files to edit are in another folder, and all the modifications you'll need to do make are in your functions and css files, along with custom templates.

Thank you Jacques for the quick reply. It sounds like we are good to go!
