Thanks for the advice. I was able to get this working (not in the cleanest code but good enough to see what it looks like). Amazingly, the new division did pick up the shadow effect.

Well, now that I've seen it I'm debating whether it might be better with some kind of separation. I guess I'll try it both ways.
