Short codes only work if you have a plugin that declares them.

If you;re not happy with any of the pugin available to get related posts for you, you will have to write one. I can only point you towards WordPress' own functions to pull posts.

So basically, if you're on a post and need to pull the rest from that category, RSS is the *worst* way to do it.
