Hello everybody,
i'm back from a long journey searching for a good 404 error monitoring plugin inside wordpress. Unfortunately, there was only 1 that met my criteria: -> to give me a self-updating number of logged 404 errors on my site. This one plugin is a part of the SEO Ultimate plugin bundle. I do LOVE Genesis for their SEO settings, and do not want to change anything with it, nor install another SEO plugin. Someone said that Genesis SEO Options are active until there is another SEO plugin activated. I disabled _every_ module of SEO Platinum except the 404 monitor. Does anybody know if Genesis SEO Settings are now active or SEO Platinum? Answer highly appreciated. Thank you so much! Regards, Ben |

If you see the SEO Settings menu choice on your Genesis menu, Genesis SEO settings are active. If you don't, Genesis SEO settings are not active.
Because of the way Genesis SEO activates/deactivates itself, if one of a group of SEO plugins is activated, Genesis SEO will turn itself off. It's not based on whether you have certain features enabled in the plugin. I'd recommend you change your criteria from a self-updating log of 404 errors to some tool that notifies you they occur. That way you can fix them. You can also create a 404.php script for your child theme and track pageviews in Google Analytics to get the information you're after. There are many other approaches other than dumping Genesis SEO for the SEO plugin you mentioned, especially since there is just 1 unique thing that it delivers for you. Hope that helps. |

Hey Bill,
thank you for your reply! You're right. I'll think about that...and try some! Thanks again! Ben |
