Default WooCommerce integration

You guys are killing me..

Any news on the planned WC integration?

I've got a few sites ready -- just waiting for a theme and styling.
I've been checking the blog 10 times a day now and all I'm noticing is heartburn.

Best,
Joe

I just talked with Brian, the plugin is finished, done with alpha testing, and ready for public release. He is putting the final touches on Agency and prepping the plugin for WP plugin repository, so watch for a blog update announcing this in the very near future.

Everything is in place, Prose is the first priority, then Agency and this plugin should drop.

Great news! What does this do that doesn't work already? That is, I have installed WooCommerce on a few customer sites using PixelHappy and it seems to work well. The content-sidebar layout gets a tiny bit wacky (the sidebar elements float too far to the left and I can't figure out how to correct that) but functionality-wise I have been pleased. Other ecommerce for WP has been a nightmare so I'm SO glad to see StudioPress setting something up for Woo, which I have been happy with.

Do tell what this plugin will do, and is it something we should install on a site we've already implemented WC on?

It is a bridge, it builds the basic template files that are required and hooks the core woo functionality in. It also resolves layout issues, and provides support for Genesis Simple Hooks and Genesis Simple Menus. You can read what it does on the plugin page.

Thanks for your response, Nick. Not sure I follow, though. If it's working now for me on Genesis/Pixel Happy sites minus a few oddities with the sidebar layout, so I'm not sure if I need the plugin or if it could break what I already have in place?

the plugin is not required, it makes integration easier, and should address the layout issues, but oyu can do everything without the plugin.

Hi, I'm trying to install this through the add plugin widget and i'm given this error

Sorry! In order to use the Genesis Connect for WooCommerce plugin you need to do the following:

Add this code to your child theme's functions.php:
add_theme_support( 'genesis-connect-woocommerce' );

Can someone help me with this please?
Thanks,
Kim

Kim,

You need to do exactly what the message tells you. Add this to your child theme's functions.php:
PHP Code:
add_theme_support'genesis-connect-woocommerce' );

As Nick says, it makes integration easier.

Try out the plugin and see. It should sort out the sidebar oddities you referred to. Bear in mind that the plugin replaces the standard WooC shop templates with its own. If you have made customisations to WooC's templates, then you may have to carry over these customisations to the Genesis Connect for Woocommerce templates.

Where exactly do I add this in functions.php? I don't want to mess it up

Are there any WooCommerce or e-commerce specific themes on the horizon now that the plugin is completed?

I'd definitely prefer to stick with Genesis so some nice turn-key e-commerce themes would be more than welcome!

I'm actually gravitating towards Fashionista & WC at the moment.. The styling is nice and clean, but needs a bit more wow factor.

Default woo commerce plugin on production theme

I am running the new Genesis Connect Woo Commerce plugin on the new Video centric "Production" theme and just have 2 styling issues. I am not sure if they are related to the plugin or Production theme but wondering if a fix has been found. When visiting from a mobile device, iPhone on my case and viewing a product at the "shop" level the "add to cart" button is actually divided up into 3 layers. This only happens on a mobile device, not a full size device.

The other bug seems to exist when viewing a individual product page and is problematic on both full screen devices as well as mobile devices. The black background extends over top of the sidebar in a content/sidebar layout and takes on a rather odd layout when viewed from a iPhone. This can be seen at

Hi,

Genesis Connect for WooCommerce doesn't interfere with Woo's CSS handling and therefore you are seeing the default WooC styling. You'll need to add some CSS to your theme's style.css to handle the Add to Cart buttons. I don't have a copy of Production to hand but, as a first step, take a look at the styling of any Production theme buttons and compare it to the styling of the WooC buttons.

Looks like the theme's CSS for ul.tabs is the problem here and is adding that background.
Try adding this to style.css:
Code:
.woocommerce_tabs ul.tabs {
background: transparent;
width: 100%;
}

Does the plugin add WC products and categories to the archive or is that a theme issue?

Not sure what you mean by the "archive" in this context. Yes, GCW handles the product category and tag archives.
