It's Synthesis and yes you could expect the same. ;) Some of it is caching plugins, but Synthesis uses Nginx as well, which is pretty freakin' fast out of the box.

For example, I host my own sites on an Nginx server (not synthesis - we have our own self managed dedicated box) and you can visit then in my sig below, just to check speeds. And we don;t even cache.
