who do you have web hosting with? I've used it for 2 different sites that use hostgator and godaddy with no problem. Maybe you shoudl just switch web hosting to a company that has wordpress quickinstall. Once the wordpress is installed genesis and any child theme is very easy to install.

Before quitting try a different hosting. They are fairly cheap.
