My question is answered here (and in at least one other post)...

copy the page_blog.php file from genesis/ to the child theme folder. then add this

Code:

add_action( 'genesis_loop', 'genesis_standard_loop', 5 );

before the genesis(); line

This allows you to add images and text related to the blog above post content by editing the blog page.
