WordPress in general is a solid CMS. Genesis , the framework that SP themes are based on, makes use of WordPress functionality and extends it further creating a system that can be extended better via teh child themes and plugins.
That combines into a better CMS by definition, but exact functionality is going to depend on your usage. For example, the AgentPress theme and Listings plugin combine with Genesis and WordPress to extend the CMS functionality to Property listings, and provide a way to change that to other kinds of listings. In another example, my Production theme and Genesis Media Project plugin extends the framework to generate a video blog cms. Several of the themes are geared to a more corporate type of setup and most of the themes include custom home page functionality to make use of custom widgets in various widgeted areas to control the home page setup.
