:D I finally figured it out. If anyone continues to have difficulty with this issue let me know, I think I can help. There are a few important steps to follow to make sure your text widgets work when upgrading from Wordpress 2.71 to Wordpress 2.8. Thanks to all that posted on this subject. Your posts were very helpful.
