phpMyAdmin requires you to know the field names of each table to search.
There's a checkbox to search the entire db. :) Or a list to select all tables. It *is* possible to searhc the whole shebang easily.
And, after examining the database in phpMyAdmin, it appears the featured image is stored by name, and Uploads location, but without the domain segment of the URL. So, WP stores the string like this: /2012/04/14/20120414-image-name.jpg. But not the domain segment, which, obviously is added later.
That just means when you change the domain name you don't have to worry about the uploads. Or shouldn;t. It may have puled the info from somewhere that wasn;t changed.
