Graham,

Sometimes the functions.php file gets messed up when updating or uploading the file.

Here is what I would do first.

Open the function.php file in a text editor. Select all and copy.

Login into your Wordpress admin area and got to the Appearance section on the left sidebar and go to the editor.

In the editor you will all of the files on the right hand side look for theme functions and open it up.

Select all in the code area and paste in the code that you copied from the text editor.

If that doesn't work - send me you login information and I will take a look at it for you.
