Default How much customization is allowed on the templates

I found your site by first signing up with clicksold.com. I preferred the "Associate Theme" template however I noticed it doesn't display in the same manner as what you advertise. Also, I wanted to customize the colors/layout of the header but I'm not able to do it on the clicksold site. I thought about purchasing the theme directly from you guys but wanted to know how much I'm able to customize first before spending the money.

Each child theme includes a self contained style sheet so you can fully edit the style of the site without having to override the parent theme styles. You can change almost every part of the framework via the built in hooks and filters. Many changes can be made via the Widget areas without code or via the available plugins like Genesis Simple Hooks and Genesis Simple Edits to change common areas of the theme or add content to any of the hooks built into Genesis, which means nearly any part of the site.

You also need to be using a standalone self hosted WordPRess installation.

If clicksold.com does not allow you to install templates and plugins you will need to move your site.

They only allow you to install templates and plugins if I pay an extra $14 a month, which is why I was contemplating just buying the template direct from StudioPress. My only concern is I'm not quite sure what differences there are between the clicksold site and the studiopress site. I sure wish studiopress allowed for test drives.

As a happy StudioPress user of just one month, I'm totally hooked on the product (coming over from a free blogger blog...), and while there isn't a "test drive", Studio Press do have a 30 day return policy, so take it for that "test drive" for up to 30 days, and if you're not happy, you can get a refund.

I bought my domain for $4; I pay $7 a month for webhosting; the $80 Genesis + Child Theme cost will pay for itself in a matter of months if you're not paying $14 a month for the service you're looking at.

Good luck!

Studiopress does not host your website. We only sell you themes for your site, that's it.

Synthesis hosts sites for you but that is a different branch of the company. You can also host at hostgator, dreamhost or bluehost.
