Default Child Theme of a Child Theme

We are using the Enterprise child theme. Can i make my own Child Theme of the Enterprise Child theme?

Using this kind of method where i make a theme folder and put my style.css them import the enterprise theme's style.css?
http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

I am kind of new to WP so i dont know if you can have multiple child themes importing each other.

Thanks!
Chad

The Enterprise theme is a 'child' theme of the Genesis Framework. You cannot make a child theme of a child theme.

OK thanks for the clarification. Since the framework is really the only thing that will update in the future i guess tweaking the files on the Enterprise child theme is the proper way of making changes.

Thank!

You never modify/change the Genesis Framework!! You can make changes to the child theme, so when Genesis is updated, your website/theme will not be directly affected. That is why the Enterprise theme is a child theme of it. There are instances where the child theme is updated ie... v1.0 to v2.0...,which might require you to do something to upgrade.

If you were not using the Genesis Framework, but were building a website using WordPress (core files) itself, you would use a child theme also ie... 'Twenty Eleven' theme as an example.

Do you understand the concept? It is a little hard at first.

Hi there, to that point (and given I have the same question as the author): I purchased a theme from studiopress and heavily modified it. Now version 2.0 came out and I am affected exactly by the problem you mentioned: I can't upgrade!

I understand that the main upgrades are made to the framework itself which you shouldn't touch, however the child themes mostly need some tweaking, so it's a pity to lose any functionality that comes with an upgrade. Right now, I will use winmerge to compare the code line by line, fortunately it's a small theme.

Anyway, I think it should be made a little clearer that when you buy a theme, you shouldn't modify it heavily if you want to enjoy the "lifetime theme upgrades"...

Thanks for your consideration!
