I just bought Genesis framework and a theme to use for my already existing WP site http://www.catheepoulsen.com I have read the directions in the tutorial but when I open the Genesis folder (I have a Mac - in Dowloads) there is no Zip file. Not sure how to proceed to utilize what I just purchased.

there is a setting in Safari preferences that automatically opens safe files. This causes teh mac to unzip then delete the file. It can be very frustrating. I got a new mac this summer and drove myself nuts trying to figure out why this was happening.
You can disable that feature and the zip files will download like normal. You can also hold option while clicking on the unzipped folder then select to compress the folder to make a new zip file. A word of caution. Make sure the folder for Genesis is named "genesis" before proceeding. Either option should get a zip file for you to install.

Thanks for your help, Nick. Genesis and Decor downloaded perfectly.
![]() Now I want to know why WordPress puts this message under the Genesis "Category Menu" under Widgets. This widget has been deprecated, and will eventually be removed. DO NOT use it. You have been warned. |

Those two widgets shouldn't be used. These warnings were added by us in Genesis 1.8 to warn everyone that they are going away. The Custom Menu widget should be used instead.
