Default Building a website offline

I would like to completely overhaul one of my websites, but the domain needs to remain in use during the makeover.

Is there a way I can make the website elsewhere - like at another domain - and move it over once it's finished?

Or can I build a studiopress theme offline, and move it once finished?

Thank you

You can build it offline using xamp or mamp but I recommend doing your work online incase you need help. You could use another domain if you have one or setup a subdomain or even install WordPress into a sub-folder of your current site. This will leave your existing site live but make it possible for use to help if you run into trouble.

Hi Nick,

Thanks as always for your help!

I think I'll use another domain and then transfer over.

Is it relatively easy to transfer things over once the site is complete?

Thanks again.

I use the BackupBuddy plugin to make it quick and painless.

You're welcome.

Since this is resolved I'm going to close this thread.
