Hi,
I was wondering if I could get some advice on this one. I don't know if this is really the right place for this, but I'm guessing that someone here knows what I'm looking for. I want to create my own niche community with Social Media and forum capabilities. I want to use Wordpress for this and of course a Studiopress theme. I've been looking for a solution for this case and stumbled upon BuddyPress. Does anyone know if this is a good solution for what I want to accomplish or does anyone have a better solution for this? Hope to hear from you guys. Thanks in advance! Joris |

Do you just need a forum, or do you want all the other options Buddypress has? I aks because it takes a bit to set up and can be overwhelming for users.

Hi Andrea,
Thanks for replying! I'm actually looking for something just like BuddyPress. It sounds good, but I would be disappointed if I have to do everything over again when I find out it is not a decent solution. I'm looking for a ready to install solution and do not want to develop it myself, because there probably are good solutions available for this. I'm not worrying about the technical part, because I'm pretty technical. Regards, Joris |

I think they have most of the kinks worked out - it;s been around for a couple years now.

Today I ran into Genesis Connect. Isn't this just something like BuddyPress? I can’t really find what is does. it would be great though, since I can stick to StudioPress themes instead of BuddyPress themes.

As far as i know, Genesis Connect is a plugin which helps integrate buddypress into genesis themes.

That is correct. It provides the needed theme compatibility so Buddypress works with Genesis.
