Default Parallax

Do any StudioPress themes use Parallax? Or are there any recommended plugins?

Thanks.

None of the themes use this functionality. I know a couple of developers that have added it to client sites. I think they used custom code to make it happen. I did find quite a bit in Google

Are you referring to a full background type parallax effect or just for a slideshow?

There are a few parallax sliders over at codecanyon. I have just used "Revolution Slider" on a new website i'm building and it is quite nice - you can see it at http://poshqr.com

Beautiful website, John.

Love the effects- great job.

Rather ambitiously, I'd hoped to create something like this: http://jessandruss.us/

Thanks for the compliment Alisha :-)
That's a very interesting example you provided - i've never seen anything like that before.

If you manage to pull it off, i'd love to see the result.

Alas, I don't think I'm quite that competent.

It's a beautiful site though!

The Jess and Russ site is awesome! I love the way it works. A friend of mine is being interviewed on radio tomorrow to discuss how social media and blogging have changed people's lives. It's web related. I pointed her to the site. I'm impressed. She's impressed. Thanks for sharing it.

Also, I never would have looked at parallax sliders were not for this thread. Thank you for introducing me to it.

I've found two parallax sliders on Code Canyon. Any advice on which is best: Revolution or LayerSlider? Or a different one. I notice only one is IE7 compatible.

Blancastella - I haven't tried the layer slider yet, but i bought revolution slider for my poshqr site and really like it - it was very easy to set up and has a nice set of options for the transitions.

John, thanks for your advice. I bought LayerSlider WP this morning. The selling point was IE7 support which Revolution doesn't say it offers. Will let you know what I think after I've tested it.

You will both like this: the developer of LayerSlider WP has a Javascript plugin called Layers 3D that is being converted to a WordPress plugin. It provides for the effects used in the Jess and Russ site. Alisha, you might be able to build your site how you want it yet.
