Yes, multisite is a more advanced feature and setup.
All our plugins works in multisite - we do development work in a multisite setup and the demo site is a multisite installation. Simple Sidebars does not have an import/export feature. How many subsites do you have to set up? There are plugins that can help with this, but they only copy the subsite to a new subsite - nto the main site. So you can use the Replicator after you set up one subsite all over again, and then copy that subsite to the rest.
